19 weeks!

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature

Finally showing the goods!

Snow!

We rarely get snow in NC, so we were so excited to wake up to some Saturday morning!

So this is nesting...

Today I got the urge to do something around the house, so I decided to start taking down the wallpaper border in the baby's room and then I got 100 things running though my mind that must get done, NOW. Like getting the carpet cleaned, install a ceiling fan, paint, clean the baseboards, WHEW. I got a little section of wallpaper taken down, for now it will have to do.

18 weeks!!

Your Baby: Week 18
Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

17 weeks!

Your Baby: Week 17
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender

Christmas and New Year's Recap

I have been really slacking on my posts on this blog. But I am happy to report that I have been feeling much better lately.

Christmas was great. Christmas Eve we had my husband's family over for dinner. That night we opened our gifts. Then Christmas Day we headed down to my parents' house. We had a great time there. My dad gave my mom the sweetest present. Back over the summer, their house was robbed and all of my mom's jewerly was taken including her engagement ring and her wedding band. She only wear a plain band to work because she has to wear gloves all day. Anyways, my dad got her a new set. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. That night we drove back and went over to my husband's grandma's house. It was a long day but I made it though.

For New Year's we went to Myrtle Beach. It was nice, but so cold. For New Year's Eve we actually went to the beach and watched fireworks and rang in the New Year on the beach.

Baby news, I have a dr. appt on Monday but I am so ready to find out what we are having. I am ready to start shopping and preparing the baby's room.

15 weeks!

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.
